Millan Signs Professional Deal with CB Gran Canaria

Orono, Maine -- Former University of Maine standout guard Blanca Millan has signed a one-year deal to play professionally with CB Gran Canaria, which competes in the top league in Spain.

The professional deal with CB Gran Canaria comes after Millan earlier signed a training camp contract with the Washington Mystics of the WNBA.

Millan, who became the first player in America East women's basketball history to be named the league's Player and Defensive Player of the Year twice in a career, finished her time at Maine ranked fifth on the Black Bears' all-time scoring list with 1,974 career points. The Santiago de Compostela, Spain native was named the NCAA International Player of the Year by World Exposure Report and was a finalist for the 2021 Beck Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award.

Millan, a three-time America East first team selection, finished the 20020-21 season ranked 15th in the nation in scoring average at 21.4 points per game. Millan also ranked 15th in the nation in steals per game (2.90) and earned her third-straight selection to the America East All-Defensive Team.

The fifth-year guard finished her incredible UMaine career with eight double-doubles, 96 double-digit scoring performances, 42 showings of 20 or more points in a single game, and six 30-plus scoring outings.
