ORONO - The America East conference released their 2021 Field Hockey Preseason Poll on Wednesday afternoon, with Maine selected in second place just a single point behind Monmouth.

This is the fourth straight season Maine has been picked as the second place team in the preseason poll, with their last first place selection coming before the 2017 season.

The Black Bears shared the 2021 Spring Regular Season championship with Monmouth, the fourth time they've earned a share of the regular season title. Maine is still in pursuit of their first conference championship, with trips to the America East postseason in 13 straight seasons.

Maine will take on Boston University in a preseason scrimmage on Sunday in Orono with a noontime start, followed by their season opener on the 28th at Boston College.
