ORONO, Maine -- University of Maine women's ice hockey senior defender
Daria Tereshkina was selected in the fifth round, No. 28 overall by the Toronto Six in the 2021 National Women's Hockey League Draft on Tuesday, June 29.
"Dasha is the type of player that makes everyone's game and day better. Her energy is contiguous and she is the ultimate team first player," said UMaine head coach
Richard Reichenbach. "She excels at both ends in front of the net and is a physical presence. She also has the ability to see the ice well and make plays."
Tereshkina, a native Chelyabinsk, Russia, becomes the first Black Bear drafted by the Toronto Six. At the end of her four year career, the senior tallied 10 goals and 19 assists over 110 total games.
