Lowell, Mass. -- The University of Maine women's track and field team posted eight individual top-five finishes and won the 4x100m relay at the George Davis Invitational, hosted by UMass Lowell, on Saturday afternoon.
Anna Schumann and
Julia Feid each captured individual golds for the Black Bears. Schumann turned in the top effort in the triple jump with a winning mark of 11.72m, the fifth best mark in Maine school history, while Feid recorded the top throw in the javelin event at 41.94m, good for fourth on Maine's all-time top-10 list.
Maine's 4x100m team of
Jessica Kroushl, Schumann,
Katherine Cowan, and
Emily Labbe took first place honors in the 4x100m relay with a winning time of 49.43.
Cowan placed third in the high jump at 1.53m while
Emma White added a third place showing in the triple jump with a leap of 11.36m. Labbe joined the duo with a showing mark after taking third in the 100m hurdles at 14.84.
Oliviah Damboise turned in a pair of fifth place field event finishes. Damboise cleared 2.90m in the pole vault for fifth place while also taking fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.02m.
Emma Jourdain paced Maine in the 3000m event, finishing fifth with a time of 10:38.00. Jourdain was followed closely by
Lydia Gilmore who took sixth in the event at 10:43.37.
Tegan Morrison finished sixth in the 800m, crossing the line at 2:22.25, while Kroushl added a ninth place showing in the 100m at 13.36.
Allison Fayard was Maine's top thrower, placing eighth in the hammer at 47.91m.
Maine returns to action on April 24 at New Hampshire. The meet marks Maine's final tune up before the America East Championships, set for May 1-2.
