LEWISTON, Maine -- The University of Maine track and field program competed in the Bates Invitational on Friday January 16 and Saturday January 17. The men finished in 8th place with 8 points and the women finished in 10th with 6 points.
Athena Cusson took home a 3rd place finish in the Pentathlon with 2942 points. Cusson finished in 1st place in both the Long Jump (5.12m) and in the 800m (2:38.39). Cusson would finish second in the High Jump (1.52m) and the Shot Put (9.33m). Cusson would finish in third in the 60m Hurdles (10.46).
Ben Therriault would finish in 2nd place in Heptathlon with 4589 points. Therriault had one first place finish in the Shot Put (11.47m), one second place finish in the 1000m (2:53.48), two third place finishes in the 60m (7.37) and 60m hurdles (8.98) and three fourth place finishes in the high jump (1.80m); the pole vault (3.75m), and the long jump (6.07m).
The Black Bears are back in action on January 24th as they travel to Boston, Massachusetts to compete in the Scarlet and White meet hosted by Boston University.
