Kyleigh O'Donnell improved to 6-2 in the circle for Black Bears as she helped lead the softball team to a 3-1 victory over Hartford on Sunday at Kessock Field. The series clinching victory moved Maine to 4-2 in America East play.
O'Donnell went the distance to earn her sixth win of the season as she fanned eight and surrendered just one run on three hits and a walk in the victory.
Maine featured seven different players who recorded a hit in Sunday's series finale.
After a scoreless first three innings, Maine was able to get on the board first by plating a pair of runs in the fourth.
Kelby Drews started the scoring by belting a solo home run to straight-away center field.
Jasmine Gray kept the rally alive by reaching on an error by Hartford's pitcher before coming around to score on an RBI double to the gap in left center by
Keely Clark.
Maine tacked on a run in the fifth when
Kya Enos rifled a triple down the right field line, bringing around
Emma Larke with the game's third run.
Hartford added a run in the sixth but it would be as close as it would get as Maine captured the 3-1 victory.
The Black Bears return to action on Tuesday when they travel for a non-conference doubleheader at UMass.
