CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The University of Maine men's ice hockey team was defeated by the #1 Boston College Eagles, 4-2, on Friday night in the Conte Forum.

First Goal (1-0 #1 Boston College): As the Maine power play was about to expire, Matt Boldy scored a short handed goal for the Eagles. The Minnesota Wild draft pick scored the short handed goal unassisted 1:25 into the second period.

Second Goal (1-1): After having his initial shot saved,
Tristan Poissant grabbed his rebound and tied the Hockey East contest at one goal apiece.
JD Greenway played the puck over to
AJ Drobot, who then found the streaking freshman forward. Just over three minutes into the second period, the two teams both scored a goal.

Third Goal (2-1 #1 Boston College): Five minutes after Poissant tied the game for the Black Bears, Marc McLaughlin and Casey Carreau gave the Eagles another one goal lead.
Matthew Thiessen made the original save, but McLaughlin was able to clean up the rebound and find the back of the net.

Fourth Goal (2-2): While on a 5-on-3 power play,
Brad Morrissey tied the Friday evening match-up at 2-2.
Jakub Sirota cycled the puck to
Adam Dawe, who played it down to Morrissey. The freshman forward did the rest and tied the game for Maine. Unfortunately, the tie was short lived.

Fifth Goal (3-2 #1 Boston College): Less than two minutes later, Alex Newhook scored on the power play for the Eagles. The forward's goal, once again, regained the lead for Boston College.

Sixth Goal (4-2 #1 Boston College): Boldy scored his second goal of the night with 00:54 left in the contest. The empty net goal was the final goal of the Hockey East battle as Boston College held onto win.

Notes: Matthew Thiessen stopped 28 shots for the Black Bears, while Spencer Knight tallied 24 saves for Boston College.

Maine went 1 for 6 on their power play opportunities, as the Eagles were 2-4 on its player advantages.

The Black Bears blocked four shots as a team.
