Ostman Stops 56 Shots in Series Finale at #1 Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The University of Maine men's ice hockey team was defeated by the Boston College Eagles, 3-0, on Saturday night in Conte Forum.

First Goal (1-0 #1 Boston College): After fighting off a five minute major, Boston College scored a dirty goal. With Victor Ostman on his back after making a flurry of saves, Patrick Giles snagged a one goal lead for the Eagles.

Second Goal (2-0 #1 Boston College): Alex Newhook added to his squad's lead with a power play goal halfway through the third period. The forward wasted no time as his goal came only seconds onto the power play.

Third Goal (3-0 #1 Boston College): 00:33 after the power play goal, Colby Ambrosio added another goal for the Eagles. It was the final goal of the Hockey East contest as Boston College would hold onto the three goal lead.

Notes: Victor Ostman stopped 56 shots for the Black Bears, while Spencer Knight tallied 24 saves for Boston College. The 56 saves are the most since Jeremy Swayman saved 52 shots at Providence in 2019.

Maine went 0 for 2 on their power play opportunities, as the Eagles were 1-3 on its player advantages.

The Black Bears blocked nine shots as a team.

Next: Hockey East will announce next week's schedule on Tuesday, February 23rd.
