BOSTON -- The University of Maine women's soccer team was selected to finish in eighth place in the America East preseason poll, as announced on Wednesday. Maine received 26 total points in the poll.

Stony Brook tops the list with 81 points, along with nine first place votes. Hartford follows with 70 points and one first place vote. UAlbany ranks third with 58 points. UMass Lowell received 53 points. New Hampshire tallied 50 points. Binghamton (47 points) and NJIT (35 points) hold the 6 and 7 spots respectively. Vermont (20 points) and UMBC (10 points) round out the poll.

Maine finished the 2019 season with a 5-8-1 record, 1-6-1 in conference play, which resulted in an eighth place finish in America East. The Black Bears look to reach the playoffs for the 14th time in the past 18 seasons.

Maine will open the 2021 season at Merrimack College on February 21st, when they look to make it two straight against the Warriors.
