Orono, Maine -- The University of Maine men's basketball team returns from a three-game road trip to host the University of New England on Military Appreciation Day, presented by Dead River Company, on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Memorial Gymnasium.

A LOOK AT THE BLACK BEARS:
The Black Bears return to the Pit following a tough defeated at the hands of the Quinnipiac Bobcats, 73-47. Despite the score, Maine still ranks near the top of the nation in some tough defensive catergories.
The Black Bears are ranked 38 in steals forced per game, registering 9.4 steals per game. This ranks them 38th in the country and first in America East. As a result of the high steal numbers, Maine also finds themselves 46th in the nation in turnovers forced per game, coming into their matchup against UNE with a 16.5 turnovers forced per game. That number also ranks them 2nd in America East.
The Black Bears also find themselves as one of the more discplined teams as they have committed the 24th fewest fouls in the country (136), which places them 4th in America East.
A LOOK AT UNE
University of New England comes to Orono following a defeat to Nichols, 88-65. The Nor' Easters were led by Ric Castillo, who poured in a team high 15 and added 7 rebounds in the contest. Drake Gavin brought in 10 rebounds of his own as James DeCrisantis (9 pts, 4a) and Alex Kravchuk (9 pts, 4a) chipped in offensively. Alex Kravchuk leads UNE at 16.6 points per game to go along with 5.3 rebounds while Ray Evans is adding 12.8 points. Castillo is averaging 8.2 points and a team-high 7.0 rebounds.
HISTORY AGAINST UNE
Maine and New England will meet for the third time in history, with Maine holding a 2-0 edge in the series. The teams met on Nov. 28, 2003, a game also played in The Pit. Maine earned a 99-50 victory in the 2003 contest.
