Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Maine wins sixth straight, defeat Boston University 3-2

Hartley, Davis, and Lambert score to lead Black Bears

BOSTON, Mass. - The University of Maine field hockey program stretched their win streak out to six games on Sunday afternoon, as they defeated the Boston University Terriers in non-conference play by a 3-2 final score.

A scoreless first half gave way to an exciting second, as Madisyn Hartley struck first for Maine with her first goal of the season off of Hannah Abbott's first assist of the year. The Terriers struck back, however, scoring twice in three minutes off penalty corners to take a 2-1 lead into the fourth quarter.

Hana Davis found the equalizer for Maine two and a half minutes into the fourth quarter, scoring her fourth goal of the season on an unassisted effort. Looking for a winner, it was Poppy Lambert once again for Maine as she scored her fifth goal in the last three games and her second game-winner of the weekend to put Maine in front for good with eight minutes remaining.

For Maine, they improve to 7-5 on the season with their fourth non-conference victory of the season. They've now posted their longest win streak since the 2018 squad started the year on an eight-game streak, and they sit atop the America East standings at a 3-0 mark alongside California as the only unbeaten teams in conference play.

Next up for the Black Bears is a return to Orono for a homestand against California and UC-Davis this Friday and Saturday, with a 3:00 start on Friday to start the weekend.
