Maine defeats UMass-Lowell 2-1 in overtime on Senior Day

Maine clinches hosting rights for America East Tournament

ORONO - The University of Maine field hockey team clinched the right to host the upcoming America East Tournament, defeating UMass-Lowell by a 2-1 final score on Senior Day in Orono.

Hana Davis tied the game at 1-1, answering a UMass-Lowell goal with her seventh of the season just four minutes after the fact. The stalemate lasted throughout the sixty minutes, as Maine headed for yet another overtime matchup.

It didn't last long, however, as Maine struck on the corner to win it.

The goal was credited to Brooke Sulinski, assisted by Chloe Walton

With the win, Maine secures the right to host the America East Tournament for the first time in program history. Time will tell if Maine will secure the number one seed, but regardless the Black Bears will host the tournament due to California being ineligible to host per America East guidelines. The tournament is set to take place during the first weekend of November.

The Black Bears hit the road with their 11-6 overall record and 6-1 America East record, taking on Dartmouth in a non-conference tilt on Sunday.
