  • The Black Bears, who picked up their first CAA victory of the season with a 27-16 win over William & Mary a week ago, enter this match-up riding a six-game win streak against the Great Danes. Maine will be searching for its first road win of the 2021 fall campaign.
  • The Black Bears enter play 9-5 all-time against UAlbany. Maine has won each of the last six meetings, including a 38-34 victory over the Great Danes in Orono back on March 13, 2021. In the latest meeting, Maine knocked off then No. 13 ranked UAlbany thanks in part to five touchdown passes from Joe Fagnano, three of which went to Andre Miller who finished with eight catches for 144 yards. Miller has registered 12 catches for 298 yards and four touchdowns in three games against UAlbany. Maine is 5-1 on the road in the series and has won five in a row at Casey Stadium. Maine's last loss at UAlbany came in 2009. In their last trip to UAlbany (2019), Maine registered a 47-31 victory. Maine posted 426 yards of offense in the win as Fagnano threw for four touchdowns to four different receivers. Maine's defense registered four sacks, forced two fumbles, and posted an interception in the win. Maine has won eight of the last 10 meetings. The first contest between the two teams came in 1977, a 42-39 victory by the Great Danes in Orono. This meeting marks the 13th consecutive season in which the two teams have faced off. Maine is 8-4 over that stretch against the Great Danes.
  • UAlbany has lost each of its last nine outings dating back to the 2021 spring season. Each of UAlbany's four conference losses have come by seven points or fewer. Most recently, the Great Danes suffered a 17-10 loss to No. 5 Villanova. The Great Danes have not won at home since Nov. 30, 2019, a 42-14 win over Central Connecticut State in the first round of the FCS Playoffs. The Great Danes have struggled offensively, checking in last in the CAA at 15.5 points per game and a league-worst 254.7 yards per game. Defensively, UAlbany ranks 10th out of 12 CAA teams as it allows 29.0 points per game. The Great Danes are first in the CAA in passing defense (162.2) and second in turnovers gained with 12.
  • Derek Robertson, the reigning CAA Rookie of the Week, has gone 121 straight attempts (4 games) without throwing an interception. Roberts earned Rookie of the Week honors after completing a career-best 20 passes on a career-high 40 attempts for 223-yards and new career-high two touchdowns in a win over William & Mary.
  • Maine's defense has produced nine takeaways (5 INTs, 3 FUMs) in its last four games.
  • Maine, which ranks second in the CAA and 15th nationally in sacks allowed (1.17), has not allowed a sack in each of its last three games and has given up just one sack in its last four outings.
