DURHAM, N.H. - The University of Maine field hockey program got back into the win column on Sunday afternoon, defeating Bryant University in a neutral site contest by a 4-0 final score for their tenth win of the season.
Chloe Walton got the scoring started for Maine 1:38 into the contest, taking a
Madisyn Hartley assist and redirecting the ball for her eighth goal of the season.
Julia Ross struck in the second quarter with her second goal of the season, and Maine carried 2-0 lead into the halftime break.
The second half provided a carbon copy of the first, with Maine scoring a goal early on in the half followed by one near the end. This time it was
Brittany Smith early in the third quarter, followed by a
Poppy Lambert goal deep in the fourth to seal up the 4-0 win.
Mia Borley and
Mallory Drayer combined for the easiest route to a shutout, as neither had to make a save on the day. Maine outpaced Bryant handedly on shots (25-3) and shots on goal (18-0) and took eight corners compared to just one for Bryant.
Maine rises to 10-6 overall with their non-conference victory. They'll return to Orono for their next date, a Friday afternoon tilt with UMass-Lowell set to begin at 3:00 PM.
