Porter Makes 51 Stops in OT Battle at #4 Northeastern

BOSTON -- The University of Maine women's ice hockey team was defeated by the #4 Northeastern University Huskies, 3-2, on Sunday Afternoon in the Matthews Arena.

First Goal (1-0 #4 Northeastern): 2:29 into the Hockey East battle, Alina Mueller gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead. Skylar Fontaine set up the scoring opportunity for her linemate. The two combined for a very early goal.

Second Goal (2-0 #4 Northeastern): In her first game as a Husky, Maureen Murphy found the back of the net. With traffic in front of Loryn Porter combined with consistent pressure, Northeastern was able to extend their lead. With 11:24 to go in the second period, Maine trailed by two goals.

Third Goal (2-1 #4 Northeastern): With her second career goal, Morgan Sadler pulled the Black Bears to within one goal. On a rush with Ida Press, Sadler found the back of the net. Press drew both defenders away from her teammate before dishing the puck off to Sadler. The freshman forward did the rest and grabbed some momentum as the teams headed into the locker for the second intermission.

Fourth Goal (2-2): Ali Beltz tied the Sunday afternoon contest at two when she found the back of the net early in the third period. The forward forced a turnover, collected the puck, and found the back of the net within a 10 second span. Two minutes into the third period, the two teams were deadlocked at two.

Fifth Goal (3-2 #4 Northeastern): In the final minute of overtime, Chloe Aurard scored the game winning goal for the Huskies.
