ORONO, Maine – Sara Shaw has been named a volunteer assistant coach on the University of Maine softball staff, as was announced by head coach
Mike Coutts. Shaw joins the Black Bears after serving as a coach and an athletic director for the past eight years in the state of Maine.
After coaching five years and serving as an assistant athletic director for four of those five years at the University of Presque Isle, Shaw was hired as the athletic director at Thomas College. She guided the Terriers to two conference titles and 3.0 GPA for 16 of her 18 teams.
Shaw won 100 games over her five years at the helm of the Owls. She was named coach of the year twice, while seeing eight of her players named to an All-American team.
Off the diamond, Shaw and her husband, whom she has a five year old son with, own and operate a screenprinting and embroidery business.
