Waters also recruits Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa and Minnesota.
Q&A with Waters:
1. What's currently on your music playlist?
- A little bit of everything from J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone to J Boog, Kygo and many others.
2. What's your favorite TV shows to binge watch? Favorite movies?
- Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Ozarks, All or Nothing, Marvel Movies, Harry Potter, Dark Knight, Inception.
3. What's you favorite moment from your time at UMaine?
- The game-winning drive against Rhode Island to send the seniors off with a win in their final home game.Â
4. Who are some of your favorite professional athletes?
- John Elway, Peyton Manning, Larry Fitzgerald, Max Holloway, Jon Jones, Steve Nash, Lebron James, Louis Oosthuizen
5.  What're you looking for in a recruit?
- A couple key things I look for in tight ends would be size and length. Athleticism, always watching to see how well guys move, see if they have the ability to be a threat in space. I like guys that play multiple sports, especially basketball. Toughness, always watching to see how physical a prospect is. I like to see some clips of the prospect showing physicality, and that mindset. Â
6. What type of character are you looking for in a recruit?
- Competitive - I want guys that are driven to be the best on and off the field guys that are comfortable with the uncomfortable. Unselfish - I want guys that put the team before themselves, guys that understand team success is more important than individual success. Swagger - I want guys that are confident in their abilities and themselves on and off the field.
7. How would you describe your leadership style and coaching philosophy?
- Servant Leadership. My goal is to make the next 4-5 years the best experience on and off the field for our players. I will push them to be the greatest in all aspects of life while having some fun along the way. When it is all said and done by the end of that 4-5 years, if they do not leave a better person in all aspects, a better football player, and with a degree in their hand, then I didn't do my job.Â
8. What's your favorite part about being associated with UMaine Football program?
- The players and coaching staff, I get to come to work everyday and get to be surrounded by some of the best people.Â
