ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's track and field team placed first eight times at the UMaine Invitational in a strong performance.

In the field events,
Sarah Vanacore took first place in the Weight Throw with a 16.47m throw. Vanacore also finished in second place in the Shot Put (11.28m).
Oliviah Damboise took first place in the Pole Vault with a 3.05m vault.
Grace Minkin grabbed second place in the Long Jump (4.99m).
Katherine Cowan placed first in the High Jump with a 1.65m jump.
Anna Schumann grabbed first place in the Triple Jump (11.60m).

In the track events,
Cassandra Lucci placed second in the one-mile run with a time of 5:47.61.
Katherine Cowan grabbed her second first place of the day in the 60-meter hurdle event (9.15).

The team of
Cassidy Hill,
Brittany Torchia,
Emma Wentworth and
Kayla Raymond took first place in the 4x400-meter relay (4:06.55).

Both teams will next be in action on Friday, February 14 and Saturday, February 15 as they head to Boston for the Valentine Invitational. It is scheduled to begin at 2:00 P.M Friday and resume at 10:00 A.M. Saturday.
