Providence, R.I. - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team defeated the #7 Providence College Friars, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon in the Schneider Arena.

First Goal (1-0 Maine): On the power play,
Ally Johnson tipped home a goal for the Black Bears.
Ida Press fired a shot from the blue line that found its way through traffic until it deflected off of Johnson's stick.
Ida Kuoppala was credited with the secondary assist.

Second Goal (1-1): Much like Maine's goal, Providence scored its first goal on the power play. Bailey Burton went the length of the ice to tie the Hockey East contest at one apiece.

Third Goal (Maine 2-1): Johnson scored her second goal of the night to give the Black Bears a lead early in the third period.
Ella MacLean and
Celine Tedenby were credited with assists on the scoring play. Unknown at the time, Johnson's second goal was the game winning.

Notes: Loryn Porter finished with 33 saves, while Sandra Abstreiter tallied 29 for Providence.

Maine went 1-4 on the power play, as the Friars were 1-4 on their player advantages.

The Black Bears blocked 14 shots as a team.
