Worcester, Mass. - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team was defeated by the Holy Cross Crusaders, 3-2, on Saturday afternoon in the Hart Center Rink.

First Goal (1-0 Holy Cross): Sommer Ross scored the lone goal of the first period. The goal came with 1:41 left in the frame. Lilly Feeney and Carly Beniek were both credited with an assist on the goal.

Second Goal (1-1):
Ida Kuoppala scored her second goal in two games to tie the Hockey East contest seconds into the second period. The sophomore's goal was on the breakaway, unassisted, and short handed.

Third Goal (2-1 Holy Cross): Carly Beniek scored a goal of her own 00:32 into the third period. After a lengthy review, the goal was upheld and gave the Crusaders their first lead of the 2020-21 season. Emma Lange and Feeney were credited with assists.

Fourth Goal (3-1 Holy Cross): Ross scored her second goal of the afternoon at 18:17 in the third period. The empty net goal clinched Holy Cross' first win of the 2020-21 season.

Fifth Goal (3-2 Holy Cross): Kuoppala scored her second goal of the day, third of the season, with 00:23 left in the contest. Unfortunately, it was the Black Bears' final goal of the day.

Notes: Loryn Porter finished with 27 saves, while Jada Brenon tallied 21 for Holy Cross.

Maine went 1-3 on the power play, as the Crusaders were 0-4 on their player advantages.
