Box Score Worcester, Mass. - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team defeated the Holy Cross Crusaders, 2-1, on Friday night in the Hart Center Rink.

First Goal (1-0 Maine): Ida Kuoppala scored the first goal of the 2020-21 season for the Black Bears. The forward tipped the goal home from a shot by
Ella MacLean. Through very heavy traffic, the puck found its way to the back of the net. MacLean and
Ally Johnson were credited with assists.

Second Goal (2-0 Maine): On the power play,
Morgan Sadler scored her first career goal. The goal came in the final seconds of the first period.
Liga Miljone and
Elise Morphy each assisted on the second goal of the evening.

Third Goal (2-1 Maine): Bryn Saarela scored less than two minutes into the third period to get her squad on the board. The freshman's goal deflected off of
Loryn Porter's glove and into the net.

Notes: Loryn Porter finished with 34 saves, while Jada Brenon tallied 33 for Holy Cross.

Maine went 1-2 on the power play, as the Crusaders were 0-1 on their player advantages.

The Black Bears blocked 14 shots as a team.
