Bangor, Maine -- The Black Bears, who trailed by 20 to UMBC, were able to cut the deficit down to five in the second half but ultimately were unable to take the lead, falling 74-54 at the Cross Insurance Center on Sunday afternoon. The loss snapped Maine's 21-game home conference win streak.
Dor Saar led all scorers with a game-high 26 points on 9-of-18 shooting with five triples and four assists. The point total marked Saar's 38th double-digit scoring performance over her career and fourth time she's bested 20 points in a single game.

Maddy McVicar turned in eight points and three boards.
The difference came inside where UMBC captured a 42-20 advantage on the boards and outscored Maine 46-20 in the paint. The Retrievers also benefited from a highly efficient shooting day which saw them finish 33-of-59 (55.9%) from the floor. The lead stretched back to nine before Maine again responded, this time with a 6-2 run. Triples from McVicar and Saar brought Maine back to within five with 1:55 left in the third.
However, just as Maine would get close UMBC again had the answer. A 6-0 run carried the Retrivers into the fourth quarter as they would stretch the lead back to double-figures, 54-43, with just 28-seconds gone in the final period.
McVicar had the answer for Maine as her trey began a brief 5-0 run for Maine to trim the UMBC lead to six.
However, it would be as close as the Black Bears would get. A 6-0 run from UMBC stretched the lead back to double-figures before the Retrievers ended the game on a 12-2 run to secure the 74-54 victory.
