ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine men's and women's track and field teams will be competing at the Boston University Terrier Classic on Friday, January 24 and Saturday, January 25.
At their last meet, both teams competed against Bates and Bryant on January 17 and 18.
The men had a very strong performance, as they took home multiple first place finishes.
Among those, James Oliver took a first place at the meet, a first place in the 800-meter sprint (2:00.33).
Ethan Orach also took home a first place, his coming in the mile run (4:21.52). The team of
Andrew Clement,
Chance Graves,
Owen Mild and
Michael O'Clair placed first in the 4x400-meter relay (3:35.84) The team of
Travis Nickerson, James Oliver,
Ethan Orach and
David Perry took first place in the 4x800-meter relay (8:08.15).
Zachary Westman took first place in the Triple Jump with a 13.49-meter jump.
The women had an equally impressive performance at the meet, as they too took home multiple first places.
Among those,
Cassidy Hill placed first in the 200-meter sprint (25.67). Hill also took first place in the 400-meter sprint (57.49).
Emma Jourdain placed first in the mile-run (5:26.24).
Lauren Williams placed first in the High Jump (1.61m).
Emma White placed first in the Long Jump (5.15m). White also won first place in the Triple Jump event (11.04m).
Sarah Vanacore (15.44m) took first in the weight throw.
Katherine Cowan took home a first place in the Pentathlon, gathering a combined score of 3260, earning her the America East Field Performer of the Week.
The meet is scheduled to begin at 2:00 P.M. on Friday and continue on Saturday at 10:00 A.M.
