Maine set to host Northeastern, Travel to Harvard

ORONO, Maine - After a 1-1 weekend at home that featured a victory over then-#22 Boston University, the Maine Black Bears will host the Northeastern Huskies on Friday afternoon before traveling down to Massachusetts to take on the #14 Harvard University on Sunday afternoon.

Current Streak: Maine has taken six straight victories after Northeastern rattled off eight straight victories prior to the current Maine streak. 

BLACK BEAR BRIEFING
  • Maine has had a streaky start to their 2019 season, posting a 1-4 overall record with three of the four losses coming by a one goal margin. 
  • The Black Bears took down Boston University on Friday at home by a 2-1 final score, before falling to Columbia on Sunday by a 3-2 mark.
  • Brianna Ricker had three of her team's four goals over the weekend and assisted on the other, bringing her season point total up to 11,  good for the fourth highest individual total in the America East. 
  • Through the first few weeks of the season, Maine continues to try to find their way offensively, ranking right in the middle of the conference with 1.8 goals a game (5th) and nine total on the season (5th). 
NORTHEASTERN NEWS & NOTES
  • After rattling off three straight wins to start the season, the Huskies have fallen in back-to-back games to ranked local rivals. #23 Boston University defeated them 5-4 on September 8th before #19 Boston College took them down by a 6-2 final last Sunday. 
  • Lauren Rowe leads the team with 16 points on the season, already with a Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week honor on her resume. 
  • Her classmate Alli Meehan picked up the first CAA Rookie of the Week honor of the season, and sits right behind Rowe with 11 points on the year. 
  • Julia Gluyas handles the goalkeeping for the Huskies, posting a 2.74 GAA with 28 saves so far.

CRIMSON CREDENTIALS
  • Harvard has opened the season with an even 2-2 record, defeating No. 22 UAlbany to open the season before falling to No. 4 Connecticut and No. 18 Stanford. Most recently they defeated Massachusetts by a 3-2 final on the road
  • Sophomore Rachel Greenwood is the only repeat scorer, with two of the Crimson's six total goals. 
  • Classmate Ellie Shahbo is the Harvard netminder, with a 1.59 GAA and 13 saves. 
  • Harvard has yet to pick up either a yellow or red card so far on the season.
