The squads split the all-time series 1-1-0, with Maine winning last year's match-up, 2-1.
Black Bears Notes and Notables
- The Black Bears are looking to get back into the playoffs for the 14th time in the last 17 seasons. All but one player from the 2018 roster returns to UMaine for the 2019 season.
- 2018-point leader and sophomore Julia Mahoney (Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Québec) returns to Maine after being named to the America East All-Rookie team. Nicole Bailey (Nepean, Ontario) registered 11 total points (five goals and one assist) will return as a senior for the Black Bears.
- Junior Annalena Kriebisch (Potsdam, Germany) (two starts) and Kira Kutzinski (Bunde, Germany) (two starts) each have started in goal this season. The goaltenders, hailing from Germany, have combined to save 17 shots, while Kutzinski has the Black Bears two wins.
- Anna-Maria Dagher (Bangor, Maine), Emilie Andersen (two goals)(Oppegaard, Norway), Susannah Gaines(Lexington, Massachusetts), Hannah Bamford (Rochester, New Hampshire), Mahoney, Kayla Brace (Lewis Lake, Nova Scotia ), Gaby Panagakos (Scarborough, Maine), and Bailey are the seven goal scorers on the 2019 season for Maine.
- Emma Donovan (Quebec City, Quebec), Olivia Bamford (Rochester, New Hampshire), Saylor Clark (Bedford, N.H.), Bailey (two assists), Mahoney, and Andersen have each been credited with an assist on the new season.
A Bit About the Saints
- Marist has begun the 2019 with a 1-5-1 record, while grabbing their first victory of the season this past Thursday against Big Ten school Seton Hall.
- Amber Alfonzo comes into the non-conference match-up with four total points (two goals). Emily McNelis, Katrina Kurtz, and Carri Krohn all enter the contest with two points each.
- Taylor Dorado is the only goalkeeper from Siena with logged minutes on the 2019 campaign. She will bring her 35 saves into Sunday's game.
About Head Coach Scott Atherley
- Now in his 27th season as a head coach in the NCAA, Scott Atherley is entering his 21st season as the Maine women's soccer program's head coach.
- Atherley has led the Black Bears 13 of the last 16 America East postseason tournaments.
- In 1993, Atherley became head coach of the UMaine men's team and took on head coaching duties of the women's team in 1999, coaching both squads that year.
- Atherley was a four-year letter-winner at UMaine between 1984 and 1987, serving as captain during his final season.
