ORONO, Maine -- Following the team's preseason scrimmage on Wednesday, Aug. 7, head coach Nick Charlton announced the Black Bear captions for the 2019 campaign. The captains for the season are senior wide receiver Jaquan Blair, senior defensive lineman Kayon Whitaker, junior quarterback Chris Ferguson and junior linebacker Deshawn Stevens.

"The four guys that were selected are great young men, they're really good players," Charlton said. "I'm very happy that the team selected them. I've been through a lot with those guys, myself and some of the older staff members, so it's really good to know that our guys respect them like that to vote them. That makes me feel like we understand where we're going as a team."






The four captains were selected via a team vote and will look to help guide the Black Bears back to the NCAA postseason as they look to defend their CAA Title.
