ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine men's basketball team looks to pick up its fourth conference and home win of the season on Sunday, when Maine hosts UMBC on Military Appreciation Day, presented by Dead River Company. The contest between the Black Bears and Retrievers will tip-off at 1:00 p.m., with the game being broadcasted live on ESPN+. LAST TIME OUT: The University of Maine men's basketball team could not respond to a red-hot first half shooting performance from Vermont, falling to the Catamounts 86-63 on Wednesday night at Patrick Gymnasium.
Isaiah White led the Black Bears with 21 points, knocking down 8-of-14 from the floor, while picking up four rebounds, distributing three assists and earning three steals in 34 minutes played.
Andrew Fleming got back on track with 16 points and four rebounds and two steals in 38 minutes played.
Sergio El Darwich also reached double-figures in scoring, totaling 11 points and three assists. In 16 minutes played,
Vincent Eze tallied six points and six rebounds to lead the Black Bears on the boards.
LAST TIME VS. UMBC: Despite a very strong first half, the University of Maine men's basketball team could not hold on to a 12-point halftime lead, falling to UMBC, 61-52, at the UMBC Events Center in the America East Conference opener on Jan 5.
Andrew Fleming led all scorers with 18 points (7-13 FG), in a double-double performance (10 reb.). He dished a game-high five assists, while also earning a steal in 38 minutes played.

SCOUTING MAINE: The Black Bears win two-game win streak was snapped against Vermont on Wednesday night, as the hot-shooting Catamounts shot over 70 percent in the first half to build a 16-point halftime lead. The Catamounts outscored Maine by seven during the second half, as Maine fell 86-63. The Black Bears were outscored at the end of the first half for just the third time in conference play.
Isaiah White scored the 20-plus points for the first time in conference play this season and for the fifth time overall in 23 games played. In nine conference games this season, Fleming ranks fourth best in the America East with 8.4 caroms and 3.4 assists 1.8 steals per contest and 36.6 minutes per game , while also ranking in the top-10 in assist/turnover ratio ( 7
th, 1.3), and field goal percentage (9
th, .450).
SCOUTING UMBC: The Retrievers had their five-game winning streak halted on Wednesday by Hartford, falling to the Hawks at home by a score of 70-61. UMBC is 14-10 on the season, sitting at third in the conference standings with a 6-3 record behind Vermont and Stony Brook. Joe Sherburne leads the squad with 14.3 points per game, shooting at a .496 clip and a .419 percent mark from long distance. K.J. Jackson adds 11.5 ppg. The squad wins with defense, allowing just 63.0 points per game, which ranks 33
rd best in the nation. Jackson ranks second in the conference and 25th nationally in steals per game with 2.26 takeaways a game.
