Maine Falls to BC After Late Game Goal

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass - The University of Maine women's hockey team fell at Boston College 2-1 in a Thursday night tilt at Conte Forum.

First Goal (Boston College 1-0): BC opened the contest lightning quick, scoring 19 seconds into the game. Lindsay Agnew hopped on a puck in the offensive zone and took it down the wing to send home her 11th of the year.

Second Goal (Maine 1-1): On the power play the Black Bears responded. Tereza Vanisova took the puck along the boards and cut back into the slot. Using the defender as a screen, Vanisova whistled a hard shot through for her 16th goal of the year to tie the game in the first period.

Third Goal (Boston College 2-1): Midway through the third period, the Eagles capitalized on a power play opportunity. Megan Keller took the initial shot down low on the far post with traffic closing in on goal. The puck came out to the opposite side where Kelly Browne pounced, getting her ninth goal of her rookie campaign. Her tally, with 7:35 to go in the game, would be the difference in the contest.

Notes:
  • Carly Jackson finished with 29 saves, earning the game's third star.
  • The Black Bears defense remained aggressive, with the squad blocking eight total shots. Maine had 21 shots blocked by Boston College in the game.
  • With an assist tonight, Alyson Matteau sits in second place in all-time scoring by a defender with 60 career points. Ahead of her, in first place, is Kelly Law '02 with 66 career points.
