CHESTNUT HILL, Mass - The University of Maine women's hockey team fell at Boston College 5-2 on Friday evening at Conte Forum.

The Black Bears ended the first period trailing one after what had been an evenly played first. Kelly Browne scored with three minutes to go in the opening period to give the Eagles a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Â

Boston College jumped out in the second period, as Megan Keller scored 22 seconds into the middle period. Two minutes later, Delaney Balinskas scored her ninth of the season to give BC a 3-0 lead.

Maine got on the board with a goal by Tereza Vanisova, who capitalized on a bevy of traffic in front to put in her 17th goal of the year. BC would go on to score the last goal of the period, as Daryl Watts converted on a power play opportunity.

The Black Bears scored the opening goal in the third, cutting Boston College's lead to 4-2. At the end of a power play, Tereza Vanisova sent a pass up from the far corner to the farside point, where
Ida Press rifled a shot in for her second goal of the year 90 seconds into the period.

Host BC would score the game's final goal on another power play, as Lindsay Agnew sent one in to give the 5-2 final. Â

- Tereza Vanisova's two points earned her third star honors, and puts her two points shy of 100 in her career.
- The Black Bears defense remained aggressive, with the squad blocking 10 shots in the game.
- Maine's goaltenders, Carly Jackson and Loryn Porter, combined to stop 29 shots on goal.
- Overall, Maine is now 14-15-4 and 7-15-4 in Hockey East play.
