LAST TIME OUT:  Four consecutive UMBC 3-pointers over the final 3:11 of regulation proved to be just enough, as the Retrievers escaped the Cross Insurance Center with a 67-66 win over Maine on Sunday afternoon in Bangor. After two made UMBC free throws, the Black Bears (5-20, 3-7 AE) trailed the Retrievers (15-10, 7-3 AE) 67-61 with 13 seconds remaining in the second half. Dennis Ashley had a shot blocked, but quickly grabbed the rebound and threw up a 3-pointer, sinking the shot with five seconds remaining. Vincent Eze stole the ensuing Retriever inbound, laying in two points with just over two seconds remaining. The Black Bears looked to have fouled the Retrievers in the closing seconds, but no foul call was given, as UMBC took the thrilling contest by a score of 67-66.

LAST MEETING WITH THE HAWKS: Maine led Hartford 76-75 with three seconds left in the second half on Jan. 16, when the Hawks' John Carroll was fouled while attempting a shot with a half second remaining. The redshirt senior drained both from the charity-stripe, as Hartford escaped the Cross Insurance Center with a 77-76 victory on Wednesday night. Vincent Eze put together a career-game for Maine, connecting on 8-of-11 shots from the floor for 18 points. He pulled down five offensive boards for nine total rebounds in the contest. Andrew Fleming set a season-high and matched a career high with 14 boards, while adding 10 points in a double-double performance. Sergio El Darwich reached double-figures for the seventh-straight contest with 15 points (6-10 FG, 2-4 3PT), while Isaiah White reached the mark for the 10th consecutive game with 14 points. Vilgot Larsson rounded out the five double-figure scorers with 12 points.

SCOUTING MAINE: The Black Bears (5-20, 3-7 AE) fell to UMBC by just a single point on Sunday, as Maine has now lost a combined three games to the second (Stony Brook, 64-61/Jan. 9), third (UMBC, 67-66/Feb. 10), and fourth place (Hartford, 77-76/Jan. 16) teams by a total of five points. Over his past two games, Isaiah White has recorded his top two scoring performances in conference play, averaging 19.0 points per game against Vermont and UMBC, while shooting at a .536 (15-28 FG, 4-8 3PT) clip from the floor and bringing down 5.5 rebounds per game. In America East games this season, the Black Bears lead the conference with 15 assists per game, distributing 18 more assists than any other team over 10 games in America East play. The Black Bears also lead in steals in conference play, with an average of 7.9 takeaways per contest. That mark ranks 42nd best in the nation.

SCOUTING HARTFORD: The Hawks (12-12, 5-4 AE) were off this past weekend and are coming off a 70-61 win over UMBC last Wednesday. J.R. Lynch led the Hawks with 28 points, making an impressive 15-of-16 from the free throw line , while grabbing six boards and dishing out four assists. George Blagojevic and Jason Dunne added 13 points each in the win. Against Maine on Jan. 16, John Carroll led the squad with 22 points, while Dunne knocked down six 3-pointers for 20 points. Lynch recoded 16 while Blagojevic scored 14 in the contest. The Hawks win games with their efficiency from long range and from the charity stripe, ranking 32nd in the nation in 3-pointers per game (9.6) and 70th of 351 teams in 3-point field goal percentage. From the line, Hartford makes 75.3 percent as a team, which ranks 29th in the nation and second in the America East.

UP NEXT: After facing the Hawks, Maine looks to pull off a season-sweep of Albany for the first time since 2009-10, when the Black Bears host the Great Danes on Sunday at the Cross Insurance Center.  For tickets, visit the Cross Insurance Center box office, or head to ticketmaster.com.
