ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine men's and women's track and field teams prepare for their opening meet as they head to New Hampshire. Both teams officially begin the 2019-20 season on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Durham, N.H.

Last year at the event, both the men and women came up just short in their battle with the Wildcats.

On the men's side, New Hampshire came away with the victory, 99-89. Maine has some returners that had a good showing against the Wildcats from a year ago.
William Green won the pole vault back in 2018 against New Hampshire, with a 4.25m vault.
Troy Davis won the high jump with a 1.98m jump.
Elijah White won the long jump with a 6.85m jump and the triple jump with a 14.04m jump.

Ethan Orach continued Maine's success a year ago, placing second in the 800m run (2:00.06).
Cooper Nelson placed third in the 1000m run (2:44.13).
Aaron Willingham won the 3000m run with a time of 8:34.68.

For the women, they fell to the Wildcats a year ago as well, losing 94-83. The Black Bears have a strong returning group from a year ago, with
Ariel Clachar who won the Long Jump (5.61m) a year ago. Anna Schuman won the triple jump with a 11.25m jump.

Cassidy Hill came away with two wins in her solo events, taking both the 60m hurdle (7.82) and the 200m (25.71) against the Wildcats.

After hosting in 2018-19, the opening meet for the 2019-20 season is taking place in Durham, New Hampshire, as the Black Bears get their season started on Friday, Dec. 6 at 4:00 p.m. Action will continue on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 11:00 a.m.
