Earnest Edwards and
Liam Dobson have each been recognized as STATS FCS All-American status, as announced on Thursday, Dec. 19. Edwards earned a spot on the STATS FCS All-America first team while Dobson earn a selection to the STATS FCS All-America third team.
For Edwards, the recognition marks his fourth All-American honor of the week after previously being named a HERO Sports First Team All-American, earning one of 11 spots on the 2019 FCS ADA All-America Team and a selection to The Associated Press FCS All-America Second Team.
Edwards, the all-time UMaine record holder for kick return yards (2,311), kick return touchdowns (6) and total kick returns (90), was previously named the Colonial Athletic Association's (CAA) Special Teams Player of the Year. Edwards earned All-CAA first team honors as both a wide receiver and a kick returner and was named to the 2019 New England Football Writers College Division All-New England Team as a kick return specialist.
Dobson, an All-CAA first team honoree, has started 26 straight games for the Black Bears. Dobson was Maine's highest graded offensive lineman for every game in 2019 and averaged 12 knockdowns a game in his junior season.
