ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine men's and women's track and field teams competed against Dartmouth, New Hampshire and Vermont on Saturday.
For the men in the track events, Jeremy Bissel ran a 7.22 in the 60-meter dash, earning fourth place in the event.
Andrew Clement placed fifth in the 400-meter run (51.58). Braden Kuusela ran a 1:08.53 in the 500-meter run, which was good for second-place.
Travis Nickerson placed first in the 800-meter run, running a 1:56.44. Ethan Roach finished in second-place in the same event, running a 1:57.89.
Alec Troxell (4:26.03) and
David Perry (4:28.01) finished third and fourth in the mile run.
Colton Santoro placed first in the 60-meter hurdles, running a 8:43. Rahsad Chapman finished in second in the same event, running a 8.56.
For the women in the track events,
Katherine Cowan placed first in the 60-meter dash, running a 7.87, while
Jessica Kroushl finished second with a 8.04. Cowan (26.35) and Kroushl (26.51) placed third and fourth in the 200-meter dash as well.
Cassidy Hill placed first in the 400-meter run with a 57.42.
Kaylee Porter placed second in the 800-meter run, running a 2:29.45.
On the field events for the men,
William Green vaulted a 4.35m in the pole vault and Sam Bonnevie vaulted a 4.20m, giving them a second and third place finishes. Jeremy Bissel placed second in the long jump with a 6.71m jump.
Rashad Chapman placed first with a 13.79m triple jump, with
Zachary Westman finishing third in the same event with a 13.32m triple jump.
On the field events for the women,
Katherine Cowan placed third in the high jump with a 1.60m jump.
Emma White (4.89m) and
Anna Schumann (4.84m) placed third and fourth in the long jump. Maine placed first-fourth in the triple jump, with
Anna Schumann (12.00m)
Emma White (11.62m)
Oliviah Damboise (11.33m) and
Ashley Martinez (10.72m) taking the placements.
Sarah Vanacore placed second in the weight throw with a 15.69m throw.
The men finished third, scoring 131 points at the meet. The women finished second, also scoring 131 points at the meet.
Both teams will next compete at the Dartmouth College Relays on Friday, January 10 after the Holiday break.
