SEATTLE, WA - The University of Maine men's basketball team fell to the No. 25 Washington University Huskies on Tuesday night, despite only trailing the Huskies by a 36-35 margin in the second half.
Maine jumped out to 7-2 lead out of the gate after
Nedeljko Prijovic hit the first of what would be four three-pointers for the Serbian-native on the evening. The Huskies turned on the jets from there however, putting together a 15-0 run and never looking back, cruising to the 72-53 victory. f
MAINE GAME NOTES
- Nedeljko Prijovic and Andrew Fleming matched each other 18 points a piece to lead all scorers on both sides. Fleming went 7-13 from the field and 2-3 from three, along with four boards, three assists, and a block. Prijovic went 7-9 from the field and 4-5 from deep, coupled with five boards and a steal.
- Sergio El Darwich set a new career-high with nine rebounds on the day, along with five assists and a single steal.
- It was a tale of two halves for Maine from the floor, as they put up a 32.0/15.4/0.0 split in the first half followed by a 50.0/50.0/100.0. Maine only trailed Washington by a 36-35 mark in the second half.
- The Black Bears controlled the boards by a 35-32 margin, and held the Huskies to just a 3-15 night from three-point territory.
