Maine rolls past Maine Maritime at the Portland Expo

PORTLAND, Maine - The University of Maine men's basketball team cruised to victory over Division III Maine Maritime on Sunday afternoon, taking down their in-state foes by a 90-50 final score at the Portland Expo on Military Appreciation Day. 

Senior co-captains Sergio El Darwich and Andrew Fleming led the Black Bears on a 17-4 run right out of the gates, accounting for nine points between the two of them, and the Black Bears never looked back. The buzzer sounded after a 43-21 Black Bears advantage in the second half and Maine walked off with a 90-50 victory.

MAINE GAME NOTES
  • Andrew Fleming put up 23 points and 10 rebounds for his eleventh career double-double and second of the season. He went 10-11 from the field, and added in two steals and a block for good measure. 
  • Miks Antoms got the start downlow and put up 12 points on 6-8 day from the field. Stephane Ingo helped dominate the paint with four blocks, eight points, and eight rebounds off the bench. 
  • Nedeljko Prijovic reached a doube-digit scoring total for the fourth straight game, recording 10 points and a team-high six assists. 
  • Maine put up a 52.9% day from the field as a unit, along with outrebounding Maine Maritime by a 48-24 margin. 

UP NEXT
A bit of a different feel for the next Black Bears' outing, as they'll head south to Charlottesville to take on the defending national champions Virginia Cavaliers on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 PM.
