Black Bears Drop Meeting at No. 14 NC State

Saar leads Maine with 10 points

Raleigh, N.C. -- Dor Saar paced Maine's scoring attack for the second consecutive game, tallying a team-high 10 points in a 62-34 loss at No. 14 North Carolina State on Tuesday morning.

Blanca Millan added eight points and the fourth double-digit rebounding performance of her career with 10 boards. Millan, now with 1,520 career points, moved into 36th on the America East all-time scoring list.

Maine struggled from the field in the first half, going 4-for-25 over the opening 20 minutes. North Carolina State controlled the rebounding column with a 50-35 advantage on the boards while outscoring Maine 34-8 in the paint.

The Black Bears were able to knock down six triples in the contest, with a pair coming from Saar.

Elissa Cunane led the Wolfpack with a double-double, registering 10 points and 12 boards, while Jada Boyd came off the bench to add eight points and 16 rebounds. North Carolina State finished the 22-of-58 from the field and 13-of-15 from the free throw line.

NC State scored the first eight points of the game, racing out to an 8-0 lead over the opening 6:27 before Saar found Anna Kahelin for a fastbreak layup and Maine's first points of the morning session.

The Wolfpack responded with a 9-0 before Maddy McVicar's triple trimmed the lead back to 10.

NC State took a 19-point lead after a 9-0 run. Following over three minutes of scoreless action, a late bucket by the Wolfpack sent the game in the half with Maine trailing, 31-10.

A 13-7 run to start the third put NC State up by 27 before Maine responded. A triple from Kahelin started a 5-0 run by the Black Bears with a jumper from Saar cutting the deficit to 22.

However, Maine was unable to inch closer, falling by a 62-34 to the No. 14 Wolfpack.
