Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Harvard pulls away from Maine in the Second Half

BOSTON, Mass. -  The University of Maine men's basketball program fell to the Crimson of Harvard University on Sunday afternoon, dropping the Black Bears to 1-1 on the young 2019-20 season.

The game started off relatively in Maine's favor. Despite some foul trouble, the Black Bears grabbed the lead after a Sergio El Darwich corner three put them up 25-23 with 6:03 left in the half, and they would hold that lead all the way into the halftime break.

Coming out of the locker room with a narrow 31-30 advantage, Maine struggled to find their offensive way in the second half. Posting a 5-22 mark from the field and a 1-6 mark from three in the half sank the Black Bears chance at victory, as the Crimson outscored Maine 37-15 in the half and ended the game on a 12-0 run to button up the 67-46 victory.

MAINE GAME NOTES
  • Sergio El Darwich was solid for the Bears, putting up 18 points thanks in large part to a 7-9 performance at the free-throw line, while adding in four assists and three rebounds in 36 minutes on the court.
  • Nedeljko Prijovic posted his first career double-double in Black Bear Blue, putting up 11 points and 12 rebounds, including a 3-4 performance from three.
  • Maine put up a 34.0/26.7/61.5 shooting line as a team, going just 4-15 from three as a unit.
  • The game saw the Maine debuts for Stephane Ingo, Veljko Radakovic, and Taylor Schildroth, as the trio got their first taste of collegiate action in the loss.
UP NEXT
  • Maine hits the road in a major way for their next contest, going all the way out to the Pacific Northwest to take on the University of Portland on Friday night. They'll hang out west until the following Tuesday, when they visit the University of Washington, both games being the first ever meeting with the opposing program.
