BANGOR, Maine - The University of Maine men's basketball team got their first on-court action of 2019 under their belt on Sunday afternoon, defeating Husson University by a 76-50 final score at the Cross Insurance Center in downtown Bangor. 

The visiting Eagles came out and put up an early 8-5 lead, but a Stephane Ingo dunk kicked off an 18-2 Maine run over the next 5:35 of action to give the Black Bears a commanding 23-11 lead early. Maine never let their local rivals get any closer, as they outscored Husson 15-9 in the remainder of the half before Mykhailo Yagodin drained a three before the buzzer to send Maine into the half with a 39-17 advantage. 

Action in the second half was much of the same, as the Black Bears opened on a 9-2 run capped by a Vilgot Larsson dunk in the paint to make it 48-19 Maine. The Black Bears would go on to shoot 55.6% from the field in the second half to cruise to the 76-50 victory.

Andrew Fleming led the way with 18 points and 10 rebounds on 77.8% shooting in just 23 minutes of action. Yagodin joined him in double-digits with 10 total points, while Nedeljko Prijovic anchored the defense with four steals and a block. As a team, Maine won the rebound battle 47-34 and forced 22 Husson turnovers that turned into 25 Maine points. 

Maine will have one more exhibition before the regular season, taking on McGill University on Sunday, November 3rd at the Cross Center in Bangor, after the culmination on Nov. 2nd of the Maine Coaches Clinic. More information on the clinic can be found here. 

McGill and Maine will tip-off at noon next Sunday, then Maine will get ready for their regular-season opener against Merrimack College on November 6th at 7:00 PM at the Cross Insurance Center.
