Women's Ice Hockey Earns a Draw Against #6 Boston College

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine Women's Ice Hockey team earned a draw against number #6 Boston College with a 3-3 tie on Saturday afternoon.
 
The first period of offense all happened in a short span. At 11:22 into the period, the Black Bears found the scoreboard first with Ida Kouppala netting her second goal of the season. Ali Beltz and Celine Tedenby picked up assists on the power play goal. The Eagles did not take long to respond, as they scored their first of the game just 1:08 after the Black Bears. Maegen Beres picked up the goal for Boston College, with Delaney Belinskas tallying the assist.
 
Boston College got off to a strong start in the second period with a goal just 30 seconds into the period. Hannah Bilka scored the go ahead goal, while Olivia Finocchiaro and Alexie Guay assisting on the play. Carly Jackson made some big saves to keep Maine within one as the second period came to a close.
 
The Black Bears registered some goal scoring opportunities early in the third. Maine went on the power play following a major penalty against the Eagles, which resulted in a five minute advantage. After the Eagles were whistled for another penalty, Kouppala capitalized, tying the game up for the Black Bears at 2-2, with her second goal of the game. Tedenby and Ella MacLean were credited with assists on the game-tying goal. Just 1:03 later, Ally Johnson added her own score, giving Maine the lead at 3-2 with 13-minutes left in the game. Kuoppala and Ali Beltz picked up the assists on the goal.
 
With 1:38 left in the third period, the Eagles put in a goal off the stick of Bilka while on the power play, her 10th of the season, which tied the game at 3-3. Cayla Barnes and Kelly Browne assisted on the goal.
 
The Black Bears were unable to find the back of the net in overtime, earning a 3-3 tie with the Eagles. Carly Jackson had 23 saves in the contest, while Kuoppala picked up three points.
 
Maine will be back on the road after a week of rest, traveling to Merrimack College on Friday, Nov. 8. That game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
