ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine field hockey are now winners of three of their last four following a 4-0 win over Quinnipiac University on Sunday afternoon, as four different Black Bears' tallied goals and
Mia Borley pitched her second shutout of the 2019 season.
Chloe Walton struck first, with a
Hana Davis assisted goal to start the Black Bears' offense.
Morgan Anson followed with her first goal of the season before
Brianna Ricker scored four minutes later to make it 3-0 Maine. That score would hold all the way into the fourth quarter until sophomore
Kelsey Mehuren notched her first career collegiate goal on a penalty stroke to give the Black Bears' their 4-0 lead that held until the buzzer sounded.
MAINE GAME NOTES
- Brie Ricker scored a goal for the fifth straight contest, and now sits at 11 goals and 23 points on the season. She's now sixth in program history in career goals (42) and tied for ninth in career points (95).
- It was the third career goal for senior Morgan Anson, and classmate Riley Field collected her third assist of the season on the play.
- Chloe Walton now sits firmly in second place on the team with five goals on the season, and Hana Davis gets her third credited helper on the year.
- Mia Borley was called on to make just one save on two total Quinnipiac shots, cruising to her second shutout of the season. It's her seventh career shutout, which ties her for eighth in program history with Debbie McSweeney '90.
- Nina Keur notched an assist on Brianna Ricker's goal, her second of the year.
