DURHAM, N.H. – Despite out-shooting New Hampshire by a 17-6 margin, the No. 18 UMaine field hockey team fell to the Wildcats 3-2 on Friday afternoon at Memorial Field. The Black Bears (8-2, 0-1 AE) had multiple opportunities to tie the game on penalty corners at the end of regulation, but the Wildcats (3-6, 1-0 AE) held off Maine to avoid an overtime period.

Nina Keur and Samantha Wagg both tallied second-half scores for the Black Bears, while Katie Audino, Bailey Fanikos and Rachel Thomson found the back of the net for the Wildcats.

In the cage, Mia Borley made two saves, in her second loss of the season. UNH's Kelsey Rudert registered nine saves in win.

MAINE GAME NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS

Maine put 11 shots on net, compared to UNH's five.
The Black Bears also held an 8-2 advantage on penalty corners in the contest
The Wildcats now lead the all-time series 29-16 over Maine.
Keur now has five goals on the season, tied for fourth best on the team.
Wagg's sixth goal of the season marked the 30^th of her career.

HOW IT HAPPENED

13:06 | Audino netted the first score of the game on a pass through the circle from Rachel Bossi.
42:56 | Keur accepted a pass just outside the circle, before dribbling a few feet and lasering a shot high and to the left for Maine's first score.
51:45 | Less than 10 minutes later, Fanikos took a pass from Audino who beat the Maine goalkeeper.
61:08 | Thomon tallied her first goal of the season off a long rebound.
62:43 | On a penalty corner, Riley Field sent a pass to Wagg, who fired off the final goal of the contest.
