ORONO, Maine – The nationally-ranked University of Maine field hockey team will travel to Burlington, Vermont for two neutral-site contests at the Catamount Classic against Cornell on Friday and UC Davis on Sunday. The Black Bears and Big Red will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, while Sunday will have an 11:00 a.m. start for Maine against UC Davis.

• The Black Bears continued to stay hot last weekend after defeating Quinnipiac 3-2 and Lafayette 5-1.  Â

Libby Riedl scored the game-winning goal against the Bobcats in the 57
th minute. Against Lafayette, Maine built a 5-0 lead before the Leopards tallied their lone goal in the 63
rd minute.
• Maine's offensive balance has been impressive this season, as 11 different goal scorers have accounted for 21 total goals. Eight different Black Bears scored a goal last weekend.
• In the national statistical rankings, the Black Bears are second in the country in goals per game (4.20), third in scoring average (4.15) and fourth in scoring margin (2.96).
• With one win, Maine will have its best start to a season since the Black Bears went 8-0 to start the 1975 season. Â
• Maine's No. 18 ranking in Penn Monto/NFHCA Poll is the second-highest that the current senior class has been ranked. The Black Bears reached No. 17 in the 2015 season. The Black Bears' highest ranking ever is No. 10 in 2011.Â

About the Cornell Big Red (1-3 0-0 IVY)
• The Big Red have started the season 1-3, with its lone win of the season coming against Rider in a 3-1 win in Ithaca. Cornell fell to Bucknell (0-5), Lock Haven (3-1) and Rutgers (1-0) to begin 2018.
• Maddy Conklin leads the Big Red with two goals, finding the back of the net against Lock Haven and Rider. Kristen Pienaar and Claire Jones have also scored this season.
• In the cage, Maddie Henry started the first three games in net, totaling 22 saves and a 3.06 goals allowed average. Laura Kubit played the entire game against Rider, making two save and allowing just a goal in the victory. Â

• After winning just a single game last season, UC Davis has jumped to a 4-3 record seven games into the season.
• The Aggies defeated Temple (3-2), Providence (3-2) to begin the season, before falling to No. 4 Maryland on Aug. 27 by a score of 6-1. The loss to the Terrapins was the beginning of a three-game losing streak, as losses against Miami (2-0) and. Longwood (3-0) dropped UC Davis' record to 2-3. Victories over La Salle (3-2 OT) and Davidson (3-0) boosted the Aggies over .500.
• Five different Aggies have tallied four or more points, led by Eline van den Bosch's seven points. Tatiana Arias has recorded six points, while Lauren Gengarella added five points. Â
• Chelsea Bigelow has played nearly 500 minutes in net this season, making 40 saves while allowing 2.52 goals allowed per game.
