ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine women's cross country kicked of its season at home against Army West Point on Friday, falling to the Black Knights 15-50. Sophomore
Emma Jourdain led the Black Bear women with a 12
th place finish.
Jourdain's recorded a time of 20:14.7 on the 5k course, averaging a 6:30.6 mile. Senior
Haley Lawrence followed Jourdain with a time of 20:40.3 for 13
th place.
Faith Gardner came in 16
th place with a time of 20:53.5, while Sarah Hunt (21:25.1) and
Alison Wyman (21:31.0) crossed the finish line in 18
th and 19
th.
Kate Macolini (22:14.0),
Cassandra Lucci (22:23.1),
Erin Magnuson (23:40.5),
Morgan Griffin (23:50.3),
Kayla Livingston (23:59.3),
Willow Sockalexis (25:15.5), and
Sierra Yost (25:24.9) also competed on the day.
Shelby Piccinic of Army West Point took first place with a time of 19:25.2. Donia Nichols grabbed the runner-up spot by registering a time of 19:33.1, while Mika Andrews earned third-place with a mark of 19:34.4.
Maine returns to action on Sept. 8, to take part in Sanchez Southern Invitational, hosted by Dartmouth College.
