BOSTON -- A second-place finish by
Jacob Johns in the 1 mile run highlighted the final day of the America East Championships for the UMaine men's track and field team, as the Black Bears earned sixth place with a total of 32 points on Saturday at the Boston University Track Center.
Johns earned all-conference honors by recording a time of 4:07.46 in the mile, less than a second behind the first place runner from UMass Lowell.
John Hassett also competed in the event, finishing with a time of 4:15.61 for 11
th place among the 20 runners.
Mozai Nelson grabbed a sixth-place finish in the 200m, as his time of 22.19 added three points to the Black Bears team score.
Aaron Willingham (8:24.03) also garnered three team points, placing sixth in the 3000m. He was ran in the 5000m, completing the event in a time of 14:36.95 for ninth place among the field of 26.
The Black Bear tandem of Orach, Johns,
Cooper Nelson and Hassett tallied a time of 7:42.32 in the 4x800m relay to earn Maine five points, while
Garrett Johnson,
Andrew Clement,
Isaac Yeboah and
Elijah Yeboah took seventh in the 4x400 with a time of 3:25.11.
Ethan Orach put together the second-best time among freshmen in the 800m, crossing the finish line with a time of 1:55.34 for 12
th place overall.
In the field events,
Elijah White took fourth in the triple jump (14.68m),
Scott Murray placed sixth in the shot put (13.43m), while
Troy Davis took eighth in the high jump (1.89m).
Camden Cleathero represented Maine in the pentathlon, tallying 4506 points to add five points towards Maine's total score in a fourth-place finish.
The Black Bears remain in Boston, competing in the Last Chance Meet at Boston University tomorrow.
