BOSTON – After earning 18 of 19 points on the day through the long jump and pole vault, the UMaine men's track and field team stands in sixth place after day one of the America East Championships at the Boston University Track Center.
Elijah White's personal record jump of 7.05m earned a runner-up performance in the long jump, earning Maine eight points. The jump ranks eighth best in school history, and earned White All-Conference honors.
Troy Davis took sixth in the event, jumping 6.75m, to five Maine three points.
Seth White (6.34m) and
Dylan Smith (6.24) also competed in the event, placing 11
th and 13
th.
Alecsander Wortman and
Devin Burgess earned fifth and sixth place in the pole vault, reaching a height of 4.65m and 4.50m, respectively. The duo combined for seven Black Bear points. Wortman's distance is a new career-best, which ties his brother, Tristan Wortman, for the third longest height in school history.
In the 5000m run,
Aaron Willingham (14:36.95) placed ninth, while
Jacob Terry finished 21
st (15:26.96).
The distance medley relay saw
Cooper Nelson,
Branden Kuusela,
Tucker Corbett, and
Logan Moses place eighth, registering a time of 10:31.62.
Through four events in the pentathlon,
Camden Cleathero ranks fourth with 1957 points. He won the 60m dash and the high jump recording a time of 7.21 along with a reaching a height of 1.99m. He earned a fifth place finish in the long jump (6.09m), and wrapped up his day with sixth place in the shot put (10.94m).
Day two of the America East Championships resume tomorrow at 10:00 a.m.
