Ferguson Named CFPA FCS National Performer of the Week

Sophomore quarterback threw for five touchdowns

Orono, Maine -- For his performance in Maine's NCAA Second Round victory over Jacksonville State, sophomore quarterback Chris Ferguson has been named the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) National Performer of the Week.

Ferguson set a new UMaine playoff school-record with five touchdowns in a 55-27 win over Jacksonville State. The Black Bears raced out to a 21-0 lead on three first quarter touchdown passes from Ferguson. The sophomore added a fourth touchdown pass in the second quarter, giving him four in the first half.

Ferguson ended the playoff victory 14-for-26 with 159-yards. His five touchdown passes matched a previous career-high.

The Black Bears continue their FCS Playoff run on Friday, Dec. 7 when they travel to take on Weber State in quarterfinal action. Kick-off is set for 6 p.m. MT/8:00 p.m. EST live on ESPN2.
