Men’s Basketball Caps Road Trip with Clash against Quinnipiac

ORONO, Maine The Maine Black Bears men's basketball team will wrap-up its season-opening six game road trip on Sunday, traveling to Quinnipiac for a 2:00 p.m. tip at the People's United Center.  The 11th matchup all-time between the Black Bears and Bobcats will be broadcasted on ESPN+ and can be listened locally or on TuneIn WGUY 96.1 FM.

The Black Bears (0-5) put together one of its best overall performances this season in its last contest against North Texas. Facing a nine-point deficit with 2:06 left, Maine outscored the undefeated Mean Green 13-4 the rest of the way to force an overtime period. Isaiah White tallied eight of his 22 points in the final 1:04 of regulation, while Sergio El Darwich provided five clutch points late. With seven seconds remaining down by two points, Isaiah White drove coast-to-coast to lay in the game-tying basket with 1.1 seconds remaining. The Mean Green took control in overtime, escaping with a 74-63 win. 
 
The Bobcats (1-2) enter their third consecutive game against an America East foe, as they opened the season against defending national champion Villanova (L, 83-56), before splitting contests against Hartford (L, 68-54) and New Hampshire (W, 69-63). Cameron Young leads the way offensively with 17.3 points per game, while Jacob Rigioni has added 10.3 per contest.
 
Four Black Bears are averaging at least 9.0 points per game through five games this season, as Isaiah White (14.4 ppg), Andrew Fleming (11.8 ppg), Terion Moss (9.2 ppg) and Sergio El Dariwch (9.0) have paced the Black Bear offense this season. Vilgot Larsson leads the squad with 6.0 rebounds per game.
 
Maine has faced a tough road stretch to begin the season, with the Black Bears traveling to Denver, Utah, San Francisco, N.C. State and North Texas to begin the campaign.As of Nov. 24, Maine's opponents have combined for a 21-5 record. The Black Bears last three opponents in San Francisco, N.C. State and North Texas are a combined 17-0 this season.
