ALBANY, N.Y. – A goal in the 57^th minute proved to be difference, as the No. 16 University of Maine field hockey team dropped a contest for the first time in October, falling to the No. 22 UAlbany Great Danes 1-0 on Friday afternoon at Alumni Turf Field.

Albany's Cosima Rocktaeschel broke the scoreless tie off a penalty corner to lift the Great Danes to the victory.

Melissa Nealon registered three saves in net for the shutout for Albany. Lydia Gavner made five saves in her first collegiate action in the cage for Maine.

MAINE GAME NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS

UAlbany held a 11-6 advantage in shots, with a 6-3 edge in shots on goals.
Maine led in penalty corners by a 8-7 mark.
Gavner made her first start in her career as a Black Bear, recording five saves.
The Black Bears and Great Danes split the season series for the second-consecutive season.
The loss was just Maine's third of the season and its second over a ranked opponent
Maine outshot Albany 4-3 in the first half, but UAlbany edged Maine 8-2 in the category in the second.
