ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine track and field teams competed at the UNH Wildcat Invitational, today, with the men's team winning with 196 points, while the women's team finished runner-up with 189.
On the men's side, third-year Mozai Nelson won the 100m with a time of 11.28 and also won the 200m with a time of 22.60. Nelson was also on the winning 4x100m and 4x400m teams for the Black Bears.
In the 400m, fourth-year Jake Osborn won with a time of 49.70, with fourth-year Joseph Slattery finishing in second with a time of 49.94.
Third-year Jacob Johns finished in fifth in the 800m with a time of 1:56.07. Johns won the 1500m with a time of 3:56.49. Fourth-year Jesse Orach finished in fourth with a time of 3:58.61, followed by second-year Aaron Willingham who finished in 4:01.10.
In the 400m hurdles, third-year Elijah Yeboah finished in second with a time of 56.39, followed by third-year Isaac Yeboah with a time of 56.82. Â In the 3000m steeplechase, fourth-year Levi Frye finished in second with a time of (:38.59.
In the high jump, fourth-year Asaad Hicks won with a jump of 1.95m. In the shot put, third-year Jeremy Frantz finished in third with a throw of 15.22m. In the discus, fourth-year Shane Corbett won with a throw of 46.34m. In the hammer throw, third-year Thomas Murray finished in second with a throw of 52.11m. Â In the javelin, third-year Kelby Mace won with a throw of 62.82m.
On the women's side, first-year Cassidy Hill won the 100m with a time of 12.41. Hill later finished in fifth in the 200m and first in the 4x100m relay team for Maine.
Also in the 100m, second-year Lauren Magnuson finished in third with a time of 12.48. Magnuson finished in second in the 200m with a time of 25.84, followed by fourth-year Grace MacLean with a time of 26.03. MacLean also won the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.28.
In the 400m, fourth-year Teal Jackson finished in second with a time of 58.60, followed by first-year Elisabeth Redwood with a time of 59.25. In the 800m, first-year Tiffany Tanner won with a time of 2:17.34.
In the 1500m, fourth-year Naomi Holzhauer finished in third with a time of 4:50.86. In the 400m hurdles, first-year Brittany Torchia finished in third with a time of 1:06.44, followed by third-year Synclaire Tasker with a time of 1:09.72.
In the pole vault, second-year Taylor Lenentine finished in second with a top vault of 3.25m. Second-year Ariel Clachar won the long jump with a top-jump of 5.65m.
In the shot put, fourth-year Ashley Donohoe won with a top-throw of 12.61m, then finished in third in the discus with a throw of 36.23m. In the hammer throw, Donohoe finished in third with a throw of 45.31m.
Third-year Rachel Bergeron came in second with a throw of 11.93m and also finished in fourth with a throw of 35.23m and first in the hammer throw with a throw of 59.09m.
Maine will compete next at Holy Cross on April 19th and 20th.
