WORCESTER, Mass. -- The University of Maine women's swim team placed fourth at the 2017 America East Championships on Sunday, Feb. 12. The Black Bears earned a total of 396.5 points over the four day competition.
Emily Borger was the top Black Bear finisher on day four, earning 14 points by placing fifth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.80.
Juliana McDonald also placed in the final of the event, earning 12 points and touching the wall seventh at 52.14.
Emma Blair tied for 13th in the 100-free at 53.06.
Shayla-Rose Kleisinger scored 12 more points for Maine with a seventh place showing in the 1650-yard free at 17:21.68. Also competing in the event for Maine was
Alison Brodt (12th-17:42.73),
Chloe Adams (13th - 17:45.77),
Beatrix Lavigueur (16th-18:24.04) and
Meghan O'Neill (17th-18:25.97).
Emma Blackdeer took seventh with a time of 2:24.01 in the 200-yard breaststroke. Cece McEachern touched the wall 11th in the event at 2:23.58 while
Sabrina Nuttall was 16th at 2:29.85.
Junior
Victoria Kingston finished ninth in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:07.97 and was followed closely by
Emma Pontius who took 10th at 2:07.97.
Kate Pontius touched the wall 16th at 2:14.25 while Anna McCurdy finished 21st with a time of 2:14.02.
Megan McGillivray was Maine's top finisher in the 200-yard backstroke, placing eighth at 2:03.63.

Tessa Lindsley (19th-2:11.72),
Lilli Wiseman (21st-2:13.62), Alex Bromley (22nd-2:14.57) and O'Neill (23rd-2:15.71) all also took part in the event.
